BOARDMAN - Paul Lesigonich, 90, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, April 11, 2017, at Heritage Manor in Youngstown following a long and fulfilling life.

Paul was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Campbell, a son of the late Alex and Mary Korelewiak Lesigonich, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Lesigonich was a 1945 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, and served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II as private secretary to military officers. While in the service, he played in the military band and played baseball in Puerto Rico and Trinidad for the Army team.

An industrious man, Paul had an active work history. After his discharge from the Army, he owned and operated Baxter Furnace on Market Street during the 1950s, and then worked in the Sheet Metal Workers’ Union Local Nos. 5 and 33. He subsequently worked for Woodworth Plumbing & Heating in Warren, from where he retired. After “retiring” he stayed active making service calls for his loyal customers.

Mr. Lesigonich was a member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown.

Paul married his wife, Peggy M. Taafe, on Sept. 18, 1948, at the former Villa Marie Church in Villamarie, Pa., and he and his wife watched the Cleveland Indians win the 1948 World Series while on their honeymoon.

He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, and he loved being outdoors doing yardwork, gardening, and raising crows. He was also a fan of the Indians and the Cleveland Browns.

Paul leaves his beloved wife of 68 years, Peggy Lesigonich; three daughters, Joyce Padavick of Chagrin Falls; Peggy (Chris) Smith of Milan, Ohio, and Debbie (T.J.) Campana of Struthers; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by a son, Paul Richard Lesigonich, and by six brothers and sisters, Katherine Terlecki, Steve Lesigonich, Frank Lesigonich, Ann Balogh, John Lesigonich, and Marie Kish.

Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon, Monday, April 17, at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, on the northeast corner of Kirk and Raccoon Roads in Austintown, where funeral services will follow at noon.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Paul's family offers thanks to Harbor Light Hospice and to Heritage Manor, for the kindness shown and loving care given to Paul and his family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s name to Harbor Light Hospice, 4531 Belmont Ave., Unit 9, Youngstown, OH  44505; or to Heritage Manor, 517 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown, OH  44504.
