YOUNGSTOWN - Louise L. Hanuschak, 84, of the city’s west side, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Dec. 12, 2015, at Hospice House, following a brief illness.

Louise was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Campbell, a daughter of the late Granville and Stacia Cerech Hopwood, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a graduate of Chaney High School and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who also worked at Austinwoods Healthcare Center for over 25 years.

Lou enjoyed bowling, and sharing her love for of baking and cooking with her family and friends.

Her husband of nearly 50 years, Nicholas Hanuschak Sr., whom she married July 7, 1960, passed away Jan. 2, 2010.

Louise leaves three sons, William (Denise) Hanuschak of Yukon, Oklahoma, Nicholas Jr. (Elena) Hanuschak of Youngstown, and Leonard Chavez of Flint, Michigan; a daughter, Linda (Dwight) Bowman of Ithaca, New York; nine grandchildren, Alex Hanuschak, Daniel Hanuschak, Erica Hanuschak (Wil) Newell, Cassandra Hanuschak, Anastasia Bowman (Evan Yokum), Vanessa Bowman (Aleks) Kalininskiy, Madeline Bowman, Anthony Chavez, and Angelina Chavez; seven brothers and sisters, Delores Vance of Grenada Hill, California, Ruth Makrias of Waterford, Michigan, Bill (Marge) Hopwood of Emmet, Idaho, Janice Sanguinetti of Youngstown, Kenneth Hopwood of Youngstown, Kathleen (Jerry) Lipkovich of Youngstown, and Linda Lozano of Youngstown.

Besides her husband, a sister, Margaret Nancy Hopwood Banko, and a brother, Thomas Hopwood, preceded her in death.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16, at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown, where Louise will be laid to rest next to her husband.
