Gerald M. LaVassaur

AUSTINTOWN - Gerald M. LaVassaur, 79, passed away late Friday morning, Aug. 12, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Gerald was born March 24, 1937, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., a son of the late Lawrence and Germaine Boutheillier LaVassaur. He was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School in Niagara Falls, and came to Youngstown in 1974.

Jerry worked from 1975 until retirement in 2012, for Nemenz Food Store.

Mr. LaVassaur was of the Catholic faith. 

He enjoyed golf.

Jerry leaves his wife of nearly 58 years, Shirley H. Mitchell LaVassaur, whom he married Aug. 30, 1958; his daughter, Michele Beel of Columbiana; a son, Mark LaVassaur; grandchildren, Sarah Marie and Jamie Lee Beel, and Christina LaVassaur; and great-grandchildren, Emma Grace and Aurora Michele.

Per Jerry’s wishes, there will be no services or calling hours.
