BOARDMAN - Walter W. Kishton Sr., 72, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, March 19, 2017, at his home in the arms of his beloved, Karen.
Walter was born April 8, 1944, in Youngstown, a son of the late Donald and Ann Temnick Kishton, and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Kishton was a 1962 graduate of Chaney High School. After graduation, he started “The Shirt Wizard” business at Geneva-on-the-Lake, a business he owned and operated for over 50 years. As his business grew, he added locations in Austintown and in Boardman, and became a vendor at car shows and drag races. Since the 1970s, Walt was also a regular vendor at the Canfield Fair.
He was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Youngstown, and was a 32nd-degree Mason with the Wick Lodge, No. 481, F&AM, and was a former member of the Hillman Lodge.
Walt leaves his son, Walter W. Jr. (Caroline) Kishton of Boardman; a brother, Donald (Janet) Kishton of Cleveland; and his “true love,” Karen Ross and her family, Robert (Jacqueline) Ross and their son and daughter, Isabella and Nikolas, and Tiffany (Dan) Boyle, and their son, Stephen.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 23, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a Masonic service will take place at 4 p.m., and a prayer service will be held at 5 p.m.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home, and will continue at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1025 North Belle Vista Avenue, Youngstown. Graveside services will follow at the parish cemetery.
Memorial contribution may be made in Walt’s name to Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
