AUSTINTOWN- Michael J. Nanosky, Jr., 76, passed away peacefully Friday evening, Feb. 17, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was born July 30, 1940, in Youngstown, a son of the late Michael and Caroline Horvatich Nanosky, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1958 graduate of The Rayen School and worked for 44 years at Commercial Intertech as a press operator and foreman, retiring in 2002.

Michael enjoyed yardwork, woodworking, traveling, vacationing in Myrtle Beach, and visiting lighthouses throughout the country. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons play lacrosse and spending time with his family and friends. Michael was an avid fan of the sports teams at Michigan State University and The Ohio State University, and he was a fan of the New York Giants.

He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown.

Michael leaves his wife of 54 years, Maryann Schanz Nanosky, whom he married Oct. 13, 1962; three children, Michele Savin (Matt Reed) of Hinckley, Michael J. III (Kristina) Nanosky of Medina, and Monica (Tim) Hughes of Frederick, Md.; five grandchildren, Brian Savin, Meaghan Savin, Michael Nanosky IV, Nicholas Nanosky, and Jacob Nanosky; a sister, Beverly Vasko of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and a brother, John (Catherine) Nanosky of Tucson, Arizona.
                                
A brother-in-law, Philip Vasko, preceded him in death.

Family and friends may gather from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, at St. Joseph Church, 4545  New Road in Austintown, and are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at the church at 11 a.m.

Michael’s family suggests that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution do so by donating to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
