YOUNGSTOWN - Services will be held at Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, for Frank D. Sikora, 86. Frank, also known as “Fritz,” entered into eternal rest Feb. 10, 2017, at The Assumption Village in North Lima.

Frank was born Oct. 9, 1930, in Youngstown, the son of the late Antoni “Anthony” and Ludwika “Louise” Bajorek Sikora, the youngest of six children.

Frank attended St. Stanislaus School and graduated from South High School in the class of 1948.  He was employed as a Senior Inside Salesman for U.S. Plywood until it closed following a fire, then he worked for National Industrial Lumber for almost 15 years, retiring on Feb.1, 1990.

Frank married the former Barbara Ann Synsik on Oct. 30, 1976, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. “Fritz and Barb” were an inseparable couple who loved to do things together and were very devoted to each other.

Frank was proud to be a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, its Infant of Jesus of Prague Guild, Altar and Rosary Society, and the St. Stanislaus Senior Citizens group. He was a very devout Catholic who cherished his faith, serving as a Eucharistic minister and an altar server for many years. He attended daily Mass, most often at noon at St. Dominic’s Church, and watched the Mass on EWTN when he was no longer able to attend in person. He had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and St. Francis of Assisi, his patron saint. He also cherished his Polish heritage and loved to celebrate many Polish traditions, especially Wigilija and Swieconka.

Fritz was a fun-loving person who enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He loved eating out at his favorite restaurants, going on bus trips, watching game shows, and viewing old movies and court television programs. His favorite pastime was reading the newspaper every day, both The Vindicator and the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He was an avid loyal fan of Cleveland sports teams, rooting for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and Cleveland Cavaliers his entire life.  After a half century of defeats, he was so happy to witness a Cleveland sports championship in 2016, when the Cavaliers won the NBA title.  Fritz enjoyed participating in several local bowling leagues for many years, most often at MarHill and Marvondale Lanes, earning many trophies and accolades. Growing up on the Southside of Youngstown, he considered his childhood neighbors to be his extended family throughout his life, attending the Annual “338 Mogg Court” Reunion for 15 years.

Fritz will be sadly missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him.  He leaves his wife of 40 years, Barbara; daughter, Kathleen ³Kathy² DeLuca of Columbus; granddaughter, Kristina (Christopher) Sahadath of Whitby, Ontario, Canada; and brother, Joseph (Delores) Sikora of Boardman.  He was very close to his nephew, John (Kathy) Klimko of Hubbard; and nieces, Marianne and Annette Klimko of Youngstown, who will cherish his memory.  He also leaves sisters-in-law, Pauline (John) Nagy and Frances Synsik; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, John “Jasiek” Sikora of Dayton, Stanley “Stasiek” (Josephine) Sikora of Youngstown, and Walter (Ann Marie) Sikora of Boardman; and his sister, Mary (J. Fred) Klimko of Youngstown.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 North Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a prayer service will be conducted by the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild and the Altar and Rosary Society at 3:45 p.m. Immediately following the funeral Mass on Wednesday, the Rite of Christian Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

Frank’s family would like to thank Dr. Ben Hayek and the staff of The Assumption Village for the excellent care, kindness, and compassion they provided Frank for the last two years of his life. May God bless you all.

“Wieczny odpoczynek racz mu dacz Panie,
a swiatlosc wiekuista niechaj mu swieci na wieki wiekow.
Niech spoczywa w pokoju wiecznym. Amen.”
