LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - Evelyn B. Hanuschak, 88, formerly of Youngstown’s west side, passed away late Thursday morning, March 23, 2017, at Northside Medical Center in Youngstown.

Evelyn was born May 24, 1928, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Frank and Bridget Nann Pipoly, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1946 graduate of Wilson High School, and was a loving wife and mother who also worked as a clerk for 19 years for Kmart at the Austintown store, retiring in 1990.

She enjoyed cooking, being outdoors, and spending time with her family and with her friends at Liberty Health Care Center.

Mrs. Hanuschak was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Christine Church in Youngstown.

Evelyn’s husband of nearly 59 years, John “Chip” Hanuschak, whom she married Sept. 25, 1951, passed away Aug. 15, 2010.

Evelyn leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Richard “Chip” Hanuschak and Mary Elizabeth Chance of Liberty Township; and her “grandcat,” Vinnie.

Besides her husband, four brothers, Frank, William, Albert, and John Pipoly, and three sisters, Ethel Burnett, Julia Stanko, and Louise Konyshak, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 27, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where memorial services will follow at 7 p.m.

Interment will take place at Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown, where Evelyn will be laid to rest with her husband.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Health Care Center Patient Activity Fund, 1355 Churchill-Hubbard Rd., Liberty Township, OH 44505.

Mrs. Hanuschak’s family thanks the staff at Liberty Health Care Center, and the staff in the ICU at Northside Medical Center, for the kindness shown and care given to Evelyn during the twilight of her life.
