As a daughter, the hardest thing I have ever done is write and deliver the eulogy for my mom. This was not just because I am sad, but because finding words to describe the life of the most amazing woman to ever live is pretty impossible. Below is the eulogy from last night. I am sharing it because she is worth being recognized for who she was.
"On January 11, 1956 this world became a brighter place. A quiet home of two grew by one and would later be filled with the joy and laughter of eight people. My mom was the oldest -- and she would say wisest -- of six kids who encouraged one another, fought, laughed, cried and most importantly loved one another unconditionally. To my mom's siblings, she loved making you proud and leading by example. Christmas get togethers were her favorite because she knew the whole Wells clan would be together reminiscing and love would fill the home to the max. I admire the unbreakable bond between you six and only hope that Kelli and I can mirror that for a lifetime.

On August 30,1980, that brightness grew as my mom married the love of her life. Debbie found what people search a lifetime for, her other half, a soulmate. Dad, you were her greatest adventure. The spark between you two was contagious and from the young age of 18, she knew you were the one. Together you experienced life taking trips, exploring new places, going on cruises and most importantly making memories along the way. It was like your two hearts were one and nothing could break that bond. Together you turned a house into a home.

September 13, 1989 and December 30, 1992 -- two dates that my mom called her biggest accomplishments. This was when our world became brightest not because Kelli and I were born, but because Debbie Kolenich became the greatest role model, inspiration and mom. She was born to be a mother and the role came so natural. She lived to make memories with her family and spent a lifetime of selfless acts assuring everyone else was happy. From homemade Halloween costumes and elaborate birthday parties to family vacations where everyone could crash, decorating what seemed like a 30 foot tree each year to making the world's best cookies by the thousands, making sure everyone was fed and offered food or drinks -- at least twice to taking fireworks to a whole new level, planning the best beach trips to hosting the best parties.

Debbie was the matriarch of our family, our glue and backbone. She held us together not because she had to but because she wanted to. That is who she was -- the most generous, kind-hearted and selfless person to ever live. Her compassion and smile were contagious and just knowing her inspired us all to be better people.

Twenty two thousand two hundred and thirty five. That is how many days you were on this earth. Mom, you were loved by so many and touched countless lives. This may be the end of your time on earth, but just the beginning to your newest journey. Say hi to gramma and grandpa, play endless rounds of blackjack, show your new friends how to make clothespins and most importantly watch over us all because the world may have lost you but we've gained the best possible guardian angel. Until we meet again, I love you mom."

Aunt Debbie

I don't even know where to start... you were the glue that held us all together and a role model for all of us. You gave and gave and never asked for anything in return. I can't even begin to thank you for all the things you did for me and my family. You taking me on your family trip to Florida is something I will never forget. You had the biggest heart out of any one I have ever met. You will be missed greatly but we know you will be watching over us with grandma and papa. I love you

Deb, thank you for being you. You always thought of others before yourself, if someone needed something you never even asked why you just gave. This is harder then I thought ( Susie isn't here to speak for me) you are one in a million .
You taught me so much about life & I'll always have that and cherish that. We butted heads (maybe once) but our love for each other always came first. ❤️
You left us way to early Deb , now G"pa has his favorite "Old Fashion" & manhatthan drink maker at his service.
Deb, we"ll be ok in the long run but it's not going to be easy without you. You faught one hell of a battle & I would expect nothing less. Now Dad can push you & Mom on the swing together!!
Rest in PEACE Deb I Love You Sis
So many great memories ❤️❤️❤️Tommy

I am so blessed to have so many wonderful memories with my aunt. As I hear people talk about her and see all the posts it so obvious that nobody can deny her heart of gold. She touched so many lives and she will forever be remembered for that. She left this earth way too soon but leaves us with some of the BEST memories! I am forever grateful for everything she has done for me and my family. Thanks for all the wonderful childhood memories including but not limited to the trips to the pool and the COOLEST Easter egg hunts, for letting me (and my friends) "crash" your vacations, but most importantly thank you for always being there for our family. We will all miss you tremendously. I love you!

The definition of "Keystone" is "a central stone at the summit of an arch, locking the whole together". I believe I speak for everyone when I say Aunt Debbie was the keystone to our family, no doubt about it. She would work tirelessly day and night to make sure the entire family was together during both good and tough times. I can't ever remember a time where she put herself ahead of anyone else. The generosity of her heart will go unmatched forever. Losing someone with her qualities will not be easy. However, I know she wouldn't want anyone hurting right now. Therefore, I believe now is a time to impose those qualities she has taught us in our own lives and reflect on the good times we have had together. So, Cheers... to the marathon blackjack sessions at the Flamingo, to spending four times the "allowed" amount in gift exchanges, and to having parties for no reason.... Love you

She was a great friend and wonderful person and deserved all of that. Rest in peace Debbie.
