LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - Cynthia Pasky, 59, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 19, 2016, at her home.

Cynthia was born May 14, 1957, in the Polish section of Brier Hill in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Andrew and Dolores Adasiewicz Cika, and was a lifelong area resident.

A 1975 graduate of Liberty High School, Cynthia earned a bachelor of science degree in social work from Youngstown State University, and she dedicated her career to caring for the elderly. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her 20s, Cynthia actively volunteered to help others dealing with the same challenges.

Cynthia was known for her strong and unwavering faith in God, and she possessed a sincere and compassionate wisdom, always seeing the best in others. Her perpetually positive outlook during even the most dire of circumstances earned her the nickname “Pani Positive” (Miss Positive).

She was raised Catholic as a member of the former St. Casimir Church in Youngstown, and was also a member of Victory Christian Church.

Cynthia was active in the St. Casimir Society, the St. Casimir Choir, and was a
member of the Polish Arts Club. She was also a founding member of the Brier Hill Cultural Center and proudly perpetuated her Polish heritage.

Cynthia leaves her husband of 15 years, James Pasky; three sisters, Aundrea Cika Heschmeyer (Mark) of Liberty Township, Sandra Cika of Liberty Township, who cared for her and with whom she made her home, and Patricia (Dan) Froehlich of Stuttgart, Germany. Cynthia was also a proud “ciocia” (aunt) to many nieces and nephews, including Auggie, Drew, D’Ella, Millie, and Sophie Heschmeyer, and Ruthie, Frank, Zella, Andrew, and Stanley Froehlich.

Besides her parents, a sister, Sharon, and an uncle and godfather, Frank Adazwic, preceded Cynthia in death.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 26, at the Brier Hill Cultural Center (the former St. Casimir Church) on Jefferson Street in Youngstown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 27 at 11 a.m. at Holy Apostle Parish, Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, on Covington Street in Youngstown. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers, due to Cynthia’s sudden passing, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray the cost of final expenses.
