Wayne Walter Obituary

NORTH LIMA - Millard Wayne Walter, 85, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Wayne was born September 4, 1938, in Curtisville, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Millard Freeman Walter and Ester Lois Cameron Walter Boyle. As a child, he relocated with his family to the Warren area, and lived in Niles for 70 years before moving to North Lima in 2012.

He attended Howland High School and in his younger days Wayne worked for Coca Cola serving as a taste tester, plant operator and route manager. Wayne then worked at General Motors Lordstown for 30 years before he retired. Wayne's work ethic, integrity, and friendly demeanor endeared him to colleagues and friends alike.

Wayne's true passion lie in his family and friendships. Following retirement, he relished every moment spent with loved ones, supporting their endeavors and sharing in their hobbies. A devoted member of the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ, Wayne's faith provided him with strength and guidance throughout his life.

Affectionately known as "Red" by his friends, Wayne's vibrant auburn hair matched his lively spirit and jovial personality. He found immense joy in simple pleasures, whether it was camping, canoeing, bowling, or engaging in spirited square and ballroom dances with his beloved wife.

Wayne was a master of mischief, delighting in practical jokes and bringing laughter to those around him. His warm heart and humor will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Karen June Shaw Walter, the love of his life, whom he married August 27, 1960; his two loving children, Kevin (Theresa) Walter and Kimberly Walter (John); eight grandchildren, Rachael and Rebecca Sericola, Meredith Walter, Melissa Clifton, Zeke McKenzie, Samantha McKenzie, Nichole Polas, and Nathan Polas; eight great-grandchildren, Sophia and Mariea Bowman, Aleksandr Silva, Cameron Fiorentino, Jordan Roselle and Gavin, Jeff, and Aaden Clifton; his sister, Judy Boyle Babuka; his brother, Larry Boyle and many extended family members and many, many friends.

Besides his parents, a son, David Wayne Walter, two brothers, Harry and Raymond Walter, his step-father, Ralph Boyle, and his brother-in-law, Mike Babuka, preceded Wayne in death.
