Velma V. Telford

HUBBARD - Velma V. Telford, 84, passed away peacefully Monday morning, May 6, 2019, at her home with her family by her side.

Velma was born Sept. 16, 1934 in Charleroi, Pa., one of 14 children born to the late Charles A. and Bertha E. Kyle. She moved to Ohio in 1972, and to Hubbard in 2005.

Mrs. Telford attended the Darlington, Pa. elementary schools, but dropped out in the eight-grade to take care of her family after her mother passed away. Not one to give up on her education, Velma proudly earned her GED at the age of 72.

Velma continued to devote her life to caring for her family after marrying Oran W. Telford on Oct. 24, 1958, and together the couple raised five children. Outside the home, she also operated Ultra Cleaning Service for 12 years.

Velma was a member of the Word of God Christian Fellowship in Canfield. She enjoyed sewing, jigsaw puzzles, and she truly enjoyed every minute she spent with her family.

Velma is survived by her husband of 60 years, Rev. Oran Telford; four children, Rev. Nora (Nevin) Smith of Kinsman, Mark (Kim) Telford of Woodworth, Bryan Telford of Yuma, Ariz., and Glenn (Jennifer) Telford of Warrenton, Va.; seven grandchildren, Nora Lynn, Christina, Lydia, Meredith, Amanda, Lisa, and Jason; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles (Sylvia) Kyle of South Carolina and Jerry (Jo) Kyle of Negley; and a sister, Mary Carol Kyle of Houston.

A son, Daniel Telford; six brothers, Jim, Harry, Bill, Pete, Paul, and Donald Kyle; four young siblings; and a granddaughter, Clara, all preceded her in death.

Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, May 10, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.

Velma’s family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her name to MVI Hospice, 4891 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, OH 44505.
