A private service was held for Thomas M. Nestich, 68, who passed away May 14, 2020, at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Tom was born August 8, 1951, and was a son of Michael and Margaret Tomaskovic Nestich.
A lifelong area resident, he attended Holy Name on Youngstown's west side and was a 1969 graduate of Chaney High School.
His work career began at General Cinema Beverages/Pepsi-Cola Bottlers of Youngstown and continued with The Pepsi Cola Company in Twinsburg. Beginning as a forklift operator and laborer, Tom's dedication and skills earned him positions in operations, production, and warehouse management. He also was employed as purchasing agent for Meli Electric and shipping and receiving supervisor at Newell/Rubbermaid (Century Products) in Macedonia.
Tom enjoyed many years of friendship with his Pepsi people and looked forward to the monthly dinners with the Graco group.
His interests included fishing, attending auto races, and maintaining everything, knowing he had the right tools in his collection to complete whatever the task. He appreciated organization and a job well done. He was proud of his Slovak and Croatian heritage and could be recognized by his “SLOCRO” license plates.
Tom leaves his sister, Pamela (Dominic “Buzzy”) Buzzacco of Boardman; a nephew, Dr. Dominic M. (Katie) Buzzacco of Columbus; and two great-nephews, Oscar and Dino; as well as cherished friends and relatives, especially his cousin Jerry. Tom was preceded in death by his loving parents.
