YOUNGSTOWN - Mary Ann Belasco, 73, of the city’s west side, passed away Tuesday morning, March 19, 2024, with her family by her side after a courageous struggle with cancer.
Mary Ann was born March 20, 1950, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Josef and Rose Korol Perehinez, and was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Chaney High School and worked at General Motors Lordstown for 30 years before retiring in 2004.
Deeply devoted to her faith, Mary Ann was an active member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church for many years. She generously volunteered her time as a pyrohy and kolachi worker, embodying the spirit of service and community.
Beyond her professional and religious commitments, Mary Ann was a proud member of the GM Local 1112 Retirees Group. She found joy in exploring new destinations through travel, challenging her mind with crossword puzzles, and treasured moments spent with her family.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Belasco, and her son, Joseph Belasco, with whom she shared her home; her sister, Rose Senvisky of Austintown; her sister-in-law, Mary Pat Perehinez of Boardman; her niece Dana and her husband David and their children, Frankie and Gracie.
A sister, Olga Fry, brother, Joseph Perehinez and a brother-in-law, Jack Fry preceded Mary Ann in death.
A private graveside committal service will take place at Belmont Park Cemetery at a later date, where Mary Ann will be laid to rest with her parents.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
