YOUNGSTOWN - Martin Charles Ruby Jr., 66, passed away late Thursday evening, Feb. 8, 2018, at Omni Manor Care Center.
Martin, who was known to many as “Charlie,” was born Dec. 16, 1951, in Youngstown, a son of Martin Charles Ruby Sr. and Helen Krepps Ruby, and lived his life in this area.
He was a 1970 graduate of Chaney High School, and proudly served in the U.S. Army as an M.P. during the end of the Vietnam War.
Martin worked various jobs throughout his life. He enjoyed golfing, going to casinos, and he enjoyed all sports, especially baseball. Mr. Ruby was a big fan of the Cleveland Indians and of the Cleveland Browns.
Martin is survived by his mother, Helen Urbach of Youngstown; his brother, Thomas Ruby of Youngstown; his sister, Debbie Gerak of Youngstown; four nephews; a niece; and a great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin; his stepfather, Harry Urbach; and a brother-in-law, Lance Gerak.
Family and friends may call from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 15, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., in Youngstown, where a memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m.
Committal services with military honors will take place at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
