Martin Berendt, Jr. Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN - Martin R. Berendt, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, March 14, 2024, at Hospice House with his family by his side.

Martin, who was known to all as Marty, was born December 20, 1949, in Youngstown, the son of the late Martin R. Berendt, Sr., and Emily Berendt and was raised in Struthers and remained a lifelong area resident.

He was a graduate of Struthers High School and embarked on a successful career in electronic sales that spanned an impressive 50 years. He dedicated his professional life to companies such as Armies Electronics, Glenn Electronics, and Ross Radio before eventually retiring.

A man of faith, Marty was a member of New Life Lutheran Church in Liberty Township, where he found solace and community.

Beyond his professional and religious affiliations, Marty had a deep passion for various hobbies and interests. An avid bowler, he was a proud member of the American Bowling Congress, finding joy and camaraderie in the sport. He also indulged in his love for golf, relishing in the peacefulness of the greens. A fervent supporter of NASCAR, Marty cheered on his favorite driver, Ryan Blaney #12, with unwavering enthusiasm. Additionally, he was a loyal fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, faithfully following their athletic endeavors.

However, Marty's greatest joy stemmed from the cherished moments spent with his family. Whether it was engaging in his favorite pastimes or simply sharing coffee with his closest friends every week. Marty treasured every moment spent in the company of his loved ones.

Marty is survived by his fiancée of 25 years, Linda Wittenauer; his daughter, Valerie (Jeff) Rainer of Rootstown and his son, Dan (Molly) Berendt of Poland; four grandchildren, Macey Rainer, Tyson Rainer, Cadence Berendt and Kilaney Berendt; his sister, Cheryl (Andy) Johnson of North Lima, and many friends.

In honoring Marty's wishes, a private family service will be held to celebrate his life and legacy at Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
