Margaret Vecchione Obituary

NORTH LIMA - Margaret M. Vecchione, 99, formerly of Liberty Township, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Jan. 20, 2019, at her home at The Assumption Village following a long and fulfilling life.

Margaret was born Sept. 21, 1919, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Antonio and Philomena Testa Polombi, and was a lifelong area resident.

She attended East High School and was a homemaker who also worked outside the home as a sales clerk at Livingston’s in downtown Youngstown for 25 years.

Margaret was a member of St. Edward Church in Youngstown. She belonged to the 55-Plus Club in Liberty Township, and enjoyed cooking, making pizza, and spending time with family and friends.

Margaret leaves two daughters, Donna Miner of Columbiana and Joanne (Gabriel) Tamburino of Flat Rock, Mich.; four grandchildren, Lisa, Todd, Kristen, and John; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, John Hesky of Youngstown.

Her husband, John Vecchione, whom she married in September of 1940, passed away March 20, 1981. Besides her husband, a grandson, Paul Miner Jr.; a son-in-law, Paul Miner Sr.; five brothers, Frank Ross, Fred Ross, Alfred Polombi, Bernard Polombi, and Raymond Polombi Sr.; and two sisters, Loretta Hesky and Lena Campanezzi, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 25, at St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Committal services will follow the Mass, and will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Margaret will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Margaret’s family thanks the staff with The Assumption Village for the kindness shown and compassionate care given to Margaret and her family during her stay and final days.

Her family requests the memorial tributes take the form of donations to The Assumption Village Activity Fund.
