Loraine Ann "Lori" Bodnar

AUSTINTOWN - Loraine Ann Bodnar, 62, formerly of Jonathan Lane, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Austinwoods Health Care Center with her family and friends by her side.

Loraine was born November 22, 1960, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late William Bodnar and Patricia Dunn Bodnar, and was a lifelong area resident.

Loraine was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and worked in the high school office for a brief time and then worked as a secretary at Gateways for Better Living.

Lori was a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown.

She was very active with Easter Seals Day Care and also involved with the Purple Cat which soon became part of her family and her passion in life.

Lori enjoyed arts and crafts, making jewelry, cooking, baking and collecting recipes, some of which eventually became part of a cook book published by Purple Cat.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Debbie Palkovic of Boardman; nieces and nephews, Cindy O’Keefe, Sean Bodnar, Lyndsay Sunderlin, Anthony Bodnar, and Nicholas Bodnar, and several great nieces and great nephews whom she loved dearly.

Two brothers, infant David Bodnar, and William Bodnar preceded Loraine in death.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Family and friends may also gather again to pay respects from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022, at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Rd., Austintown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Loraine will be laid to rest with her parents.

In lieu of flowers, Loraine’s family suggests memorial contributions be made to Purple Cat, 334 N. Pearl St., Youngstown, OH 44506 in Loraine's memory.
