Leonard W. Schober, Jr.

AUSTINTOWN - Leonard W. Schober Jr., 78, passed away unexpectedly Friday Oct. 1, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Leonard was born July 8, 1943, in Youngstown, a son of the late Leonard W. Schober Sr. and Phoebe Savage Schober, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1963 graduate of Girard High School, and then served for four years in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1967.

Mr. Schober worked for General Motors at the Lordstown Plant for 30 years, retiring in 2000.

He enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer, and he won many trophies for his impressive golf skills.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, Clida Jean Lewis Schober, whom he married June 14, 1968; his son, Lenny W. Schober III (Kim) of Niles; grandchildren, Joshua of Warren, Jessica of McDonald, Aaron (Janie) of Niles, Philip of Niles, and Lydia of Boardman; three great-granddaughters, Nylie, Caroline, and Giah; a great-grandson, Cadyn; two sisters, Sue Gurd of Girard and Sherry (Joe) Wagner of Niles; sisters-in-law, Darlene Schober of Niles and Jeanine (Stan) Purdum of Gallipolis; a brother-in-law, Don Lewis of Niles; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A sister, Darlene Walker, and a brother, Terry Schober, preceded Leonard in death.

Family and friends are welcome to call at 1 p.m and to attend a memorial service celebrating Leonard’s life at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 18, in the chapel at Green Haven Memorial Gardens on St. Rt. 46 in Austintown.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
