AUSTINTOWN - Karen Sue King, 78, passed away Friday evening, September 8, 2023, at her home following a courageous battle with dementia.
Karen was born February 27, 1945, in Wheeling, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Cornelius Freeland and Thelma Pastorious Freeland and came to the Youngstown area in the 1970's.
She was a graduate of Union High School in West Virginia, and after moving to Ohio, worked as a customer service representative at Mahoning National Bank for over thirty years. Karen later went to work at InfoCision where she worked in telemarketing for over ten years.
Karen was a member of West Austintown United Methodist Church.
Ms. Karen enjoyed dancing, writing, and praying for her family in these later years. She was an avid patron of the former ITAM Club and the former Molly’s Restaurant and Bar, and also was a frequent patron at other local establishments.
She leaves to cherish her memory her twin sons, Keith M. King and Kevin M. King, both of Austintown; her four grandchildren, Shane King, Brittany King, Christopher King and Heather (Nicholas) Moss; three great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Amari and Justin Jr., and many extended family members including, Stephen King, Shawn King, Eric Porter and Melanie King.
Karen will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Three sisters, Judy, Joyce and Frannie, and her former husband, Charles “Chuck” King, preceded her in death.
Family and friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown where a memorial service will take place at 2 p.m.
Karen's family graciously asks that contributions be made to Kinnick Funeral Home, to help with final expenses.
