Helen Sheridan Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN - Helen Louise Sheridan, 83, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away early Friday morning, March 22, 2024, peacefully in her sleep in the comfort of her home.

Helen was born November 11, 1940, in Alexandria, Virginia a daughter of the late Norman and Edna Cunningham Emigh and lived in the Youngstown area since 1960.

Helen dedicated herself to raising and caring for her family before embarking on a career at Tamco Distributors, where she served as a supervisor for eighteen years before retiring in 2001. She found fulfillment in both her professional achievements and her role as a devoted mother.

A devoted  member of Cornersburg Baptist Church, Helen found solace and community in her faith, embodying its teachings of compassion and love throughout her life.

In her leisure time, Helen found joy in playing golf, spending many years at Lakeside Golf Course in Lake Milton perfecting her game. However, her greatest source of happiness came from the moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.

Helen leaves to forever cherish her memory her five children, Gary Merrell of Orlando, FL, Debra Halko, with whom she made her home, Kathy (Glen) Kountz of Youngstown, Patricia (James) Holt of Austintown and Ray (Brenda) Merrell of Youngstown; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (William) Kucher, Jessica Merrell, Rebecca (Dave) Olsavsky, Amanda Holt, Kevin Merrell, Shelley Webber, Christopher (Kelly) Merrell, Michael (Aurora) Holt, Stephanie (Ray) Croutch, Christina (Randy) Mallory and Vanessa Kountz (Terry); 21 great-grandchildren, Alexa, Josie, Stephen, Phillip, Joella, Camron, Kylie, Carson, Samantha, Silas, Shaelah, Kaden, Alahna, Luke, Emma, Xzavier, Colton, Savannah, Lucas, Grant and Noah; two sisters, Barbara Smeal of Philipsburgh, PA and Norma Jean Maynard of Plano, TX; two brothers, Norman (Phyllis) Emigh of Morrisdale, PA and James (Roz) Emigh of Morrisdale and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Helen's presence, warmth, and love will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of kindness, devotion, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Her former husband, Ray Merrell and her sister, Joan Greenwalt preceded Helen in death.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown where a funeral service will take place at 6 p.m.

Private interment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Austintown.
