Glen Savage Obituary

SANTEE, CALIF. - Glen Stuart Savage, 68, passed away Wednesday evening, August 18, 2021, at his home.

Glen was born on November 17, 1952 in Los Angeles, and was a son of Mary Hayes Savage and Keith Savage.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in business in 1975, and worked in Document Control/Quality Assurance at General Dynamics Convair Division for 15 years before moving into the biomedical field working at Gen-Probe, San Diego Blood Bank, and Cytori Therapeutics. He retired in February 2019 during which he spent 18 days in the hospital ICU due to multiple strokes.

His wife, Carolyn, is very grateful to God that Glen recovered to spend another 2 ½ years in her care. He married Carolyn Rose Bada on April 25, 1981, in Youngstown, and during their 40 years of marriage, Glen was the proud “dad” to many cats including, Zsa Zsa, Finkelstein, Siva Biela, Flower de Peu, Katty Annie, Holly, Lewis, and Bonnie, all rescue animals.

Glen was a devout Catholic who put God first in his life. He was known as a gentle and kind soul with a quick wit and compassionate spirit. As a friend commented, “if everyone was like Glen, there would be peace in the world.”

He enjoyed classical music, putting together 5,000 piece jigsaw puzzles, and frequently using his membership in Sea World San Diego and San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. Glen also donated over 30 gallons of blood in 202 lifetime donations to the San Diego Blood Bank.

He is forever loved and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Carolyn; his sister, Suzanne (Richard) White; his mother-in-law, Margaret Bada; a cousin, Jeanette (Andy) Shumaker; sisters-in-law, Elaine (John) Donchess, Marlene Savage, Maryann (Charles) Heim, and Christine (Gregg) Ausnehmer; and many nieces and nephews.

Glen was preceded in death by his father, Keith Savage; his mother, Mary (husband Jan) Netusil; his brother, Alan Savage; and his father-in-law, Frank Bada.

Family and friends may call on Friday, September 3, from 11 a.m. to noon, at Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown, where a funeral service will take place at noon, with Rev. John Jerek officiating.
