Frank J. Casey

YOUNGSTOWN - Frank J. Casey, 100, formerly of Brunswick Road on the city’s west side, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, Dec. 22, 2018, at Omni Manor.

Frank was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Youngstown, a son of the late John and Annie Roebuck Bednarchik, and he spent his life in this area.

He served proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Frank then worked for many years as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1975.

Mr. Casey was a member of St. Christine Church in Youngstown. He enjoyed walking, exercising, playing cards, especially poker, and spending time with his family.

He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Robert T. and Donna Casey of Austintown.; two grandchildren, Ashlea Casey Pollock (fiancé Nick Miller) and Amanda Casey; two great-granddaughters, Addison and Harper; and a sister, Genevieve Malkin of Cleveland.

Frank’s wife, Stephanie R. Spagnola Casey, whom he married May 4, 1945, passed away Sept. 28, 1999. Besides his wife, three sisters, Josephine Markovitz, Jean Sumrak, and Helen Swaney, and a brother, John Bednarchik, preceded him in death.

Family and friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m.,Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where funeral services will take place at 2 p.m.

Committal services will follow the funeral home services, and will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Frank will be laid to rest next to his wife.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frank’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
