Elsie Jane Lovitz

GIRARD - Elsie Jane Lovitz, 85, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital following a brief illness.

Elsie was born Jan. 12, 1933, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late William and Era Lena Gladden Stanley, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Lovitz dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family, and greatly enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. Elsie also enjoyed cross-stitching, reading scriptures, along with painting and arts and crafts at Heritage Manor with her friends, Maude and Barbara.

She was a former member of First Christian Assembly in Liberty Township

Elsie’s husband of 57 years, George Lovitz, whom she married June 27, 1951, passed away July 6, 2008.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children, William (Karen) Lovitz of Youngstown, Thelma (Mark) Spencer of Campbell, and Ruth Lovitz of Girard; five grandchildren, Melanie (Arthur Zalewski) Spencer, Shon (Shannon) Barris, Sheli (Guy) Mathews, Sherli (Scott) Holbrook, and Sheri (Scott) Swank; eight great-grandchildren, Chase, Connor, Sydney, Alexis, Hunter, Hope, Zachariah, and Jadon; a sister, Betty Vargo of Austintown; and her beloved dog, Buttons.
                                    
Besides her husband, two brothers, John and Charles Stanley, and three sisters, Dorothy Telegdy, Mary McGinnis, and Edith Tompers, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 22, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard.

Family and friends may also call on Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 10 to 11 a.m at the funeral home, where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Churchill Cemetery in Liberty Township, where Elsie will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Elsie’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, Heritage Manor, and Hospice of the Valley, for the kind and compassionate care given to Elsie.
