Dorothy DiPiero Obituary

NILES - Dorothy J. DiPiero, 86, passed away Friday afternoon, April 5, 2024, at Shepherd of the Valley Liberty with her family by her side.

Dorothy was born January 26, 1938, in Newton Falls, a daughter of the late George and Catherine Soho Hrenko, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1956 graduate of Newton Falls High School and went on to work at various places throughout her lifetime, including Republic Steel, Chase Bank, and Kaufmann’s, all while fulfilling her primary role as a devoted wife and mother.

Mrs. DiPiero was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard, and cherished the community she found there. She was a woman of many passions and talents, finding joy in simple pleasures such as playing cards with her card club, crocheting, knitting, and decorating cakes. Dorothy also enjoyed visiting the mountains and traveling with her husband and family.

An enthusiastic sports fan, Dorothy cheered passionately for the Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes, instilling her love for sports in her family as well. However, her greatest joy came from spending quality time with her family, creating a lifetime of memories filled with love and laughter.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 60 years, John DiPiero, whom she married May 9, 1964; her daughter, Christine Knapik of Canfield; her two sons, Robert (Stefanie) DiPiero of Hubbard and Mark DiPiero of Powell; seven grandchildren, Jenna Knapik, Logan DiPiero, Ally Knapik, Evelyn DiPiero, Laney DiPiero, Emelia DiPiero and Lucas DiPiero; her three brothers, Dave (Jane) Hrenko, Ken (Monica) Hrenko and Chuck Hrenko all of Newton Falls; her sister, Jackie Kanaan of Liberty Township and many nieces, nephews and extended family members and many friends.

Dorothy will be remembered fondly for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Two brothers, Ron and Tom Hrenko and a sister, Patricia Habovsky preceded Dorothy in death.
