Catherine Ann Medovich

YOUNGSTOWN - Catherine Ann Medovich, 90, passed away early Thursday afternoon, April 2, 2020, at Heritage Manor.

Catherine was born July 31, 1929, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Vincent and Angeline Yurak, and was raised on the city’s south side.

She was valedictorian of the Class of 1948 at Woodrow Wilson High School, and worked for a time for the Youngstown Chamber of Commerce.

She married the love of her life, Edward R. Medovich, in 1955, and the couple spent more than 35 happy years together in Austintown. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, cooking, and playing cards until Ed’s unexpected passing in 1998.

Known to many as “Aunt Kay,” she was a devoted wife and stay-at-home mother. Her family was her top priority, and her two sons, two grandsons, and the family pets, were constant beneficiaries of her devotion and deep love. An amazing combination of Heloise, June Cleaver, and Betty Crocker, Catherine had an extraordinary knack of keeping a meticulously clean house, and was known for her wonderful cooking and baking skills.

She is survived by her two devoted sons, Robin (Catherine) Medovich of Moneta, Va. and John (Lisa) Medovich of Kerrville, Texas; her grandsons, Nicholas of Roanoke, Va. and Joshua of Kerrville;  her sister, Julia "Jay" Naples of Youngstown; her brother, James (Monica) Yurak of Hudson; sisters-in-law, Caroline Yurak of Youngstown and Mary Medovich of Struthers; and many nieces and nephews.

Due to the current virus pandemic, no public calling hours or services will be scheduled during this time. Private committal services will take place on Tuesday, April 7, at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Catherine will be laid to rest next to her husband.

A memorial service and a celebration of Catherine’s life will be held at a later date. Please check back to the funeral home website for dates and times of services, where they will be posted as they become available.
