Bruce Armstrong Obituary

WARREN – Bruce G. Armstrong, 82, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Jan. 3, 2019, at his daughter's home, surrounded by his family.

Bruce was born Nov. 3, 1936, in Warren, a son of the late Carl and Susan Jones, and was a lifelong resident of Warren.

He was a 1954 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, where he was a proud member of the Panthers basketball team. After graduation, Bruce was also proud to have served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany.

Bruce was a supporter of the local community and owned Plaza Sports for 20 years, making countless letterman jackets for all local athletes. Bruce also officiated high school football and basketball games in Trumbull County for 40 years.

He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Bruce was an avid fisherman and die-hard fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians. He loved spending time with family and friends, and he especially liked frying fish in his backyard with his five grandsons.

Bruce leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Loretta S. Riggle Armstrong, whom he married Sept. 13, 1958; three daughters, Lori DiTunno of Niles, Pam Marshall (Bernie Carpenter) of Howland, Kim (Chris) Knupp of Warren; six grandchildren, Jason (Shannon) Shelton, Justin (Kelsey) Shelton, Anthony Marshall (Christina Litchney), Cameron Knupp, Carter Knupp, and Kristin Carpenter; a sister, Nancy (Steve) Canfield of Warren; three nieces, Sharon (Van) Padula, Kelly Newberry, and Cindy Paul; and a great-grandchild "on the way."

Bruce will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, a sister, Carla Brooks; a brother-in-law, Bill Brooks; and a son-in-law, Joseph “Jody” DiTunno, are also deceased.
