SOUTHINGTON - Baron H. Vance, 79, passed away Tuesday morning, March 26, 2024 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Baron was born April 25, 1944, in Shinnston, West Virginia, a son of the late Homer and Beryl Miller Vance and moved to Ohio with his family in the early 1950s and settled in Trumbull County.
Baron dedicated 32 years of his life to General Motors Lordstown before retiring, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. His commitment extended beyond his professional life; Baron was deeply involved in his community and faith. He was a proud member of the Lordstown Christian Church, where he previously served as a deacon, exemplifying his commitment to his spiritual beliefs.
A veteran of the United States Army, Baron served his country with honor and distinction. Additionally, Baron was a respected member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 529 in Cortland for 50 years, embodying the principles of brotherhood, charity, and service.
A dedicated family man, Baron greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In his younger days, Baron founded the Heather Vance Friendship Day a successful and festive event held at North Side Hospital each year that raised money for Tod Children’s Hospital Children’s Cancer Center During the 1990's.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl Burkett Miller Vance whom he married September 27, 1989; his three children, Guy (April) Vance of Niles, Mark (Kristen) Vance of Lebanon, TX and Robert (Lisa) Miller of Niles; six granddaughters; five great grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Leiluette and many extended family members.
A daughter, Heather Marie Vance, a son, Jeffrey Miller and four siblings, Gene, Charles, Sandra and Diane preceded Baron in death.
Private services were held at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Austintown.
