GIRARD - Wilma J. McGrath DeLaratta, 82, passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, May 21, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown following a brief illness with her family by her side.

Born April 22, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Tom and Wilma Matthews McGrath, Wilma moved to Niles as a teen in 1951.

Wilma worked for Packard Electric for 25 years, retiring in 1989.

She was a proud Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians fan throughout her life. She loved the time she spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, and she filled her days with the Red Hat Society, her bocce league, and her card club when she wasn't with her family and friends. She always enjoyed a good Sunday argument with her favorite neighbor, telling stories to her grandchildren, and long phone calls with her best friend. Everyone always knew her by her "glam and glitz," and Wilma was the kind of woman that lived fully and loved freely. She "adopted" everyone, and was a "perfect grandma" to all.

Wilma is survived by her two sons, Robert David of Stevenson, Wash. and Bradley (Cathy) David of Howland; five grandchildren, Amelia "Amy," Eric, Alexis, Andrea, and Alesha; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother in Pittsburgh.

Wilma will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends after filling their lives with laughter and cheer.

Wilma's first husband John Richard David, whom she married in 1951, passed away in 1974. Her second husband, James S. DeLaratta, whom she married Dec. 30, 1989, passed away Jan. 7, 1997. Besides her husbands, an infant son, Barry David; an infant daughter, Roxanne David; and her pet cockatoo, Flanigan, whom she loved dearly, preceded her in death.

Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 25, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., in Girard, where funeral services will take place Saturday, May 26, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Niles Union Cemetery.
