BOARDMAN – William Earl Skebo, 87, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening, April 18, 2022, at St. Mary's Alzheimer Center in Columbiana.

William was born March 13, 1935, in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph and Barbara Vasko Skebo and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and worked as a forklift operator for Stambaugh Thompson until he retired in 1997.  After retirement, Bill worked part time, for St. Stephen of Hungary Church and Shepherd of the Valley in maintenance.

Mr. Skebo was a member of Holy Apostles Parish, St. Stephen of Hungary Church where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Holy Name Society.

William loved gardening, raising dahlias and vegetables.  He enjoyed wood working and also restored statues for several churches in the area.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three children, David W. (Michele) Skebo of Hubbard, Catherine (Brian) Finnerty of Poland, and Patricia (Harry) Johnson of Lakewood; eight grandchildren, Allison and Emily Skebo, Sean (Jenna) Finnerty, Lauren (Andrew) Galusha, Thomas (Kristin) Finnerty, Leah Finnerty, Erika and Matthew Johnson; one great-grandson, Patrick Finnerty; a brother, Joseph (Kay) Skebo of Canfield and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

William will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

His wife of 64 years, Dorothy I. Magda Skebo, whom he married June 8, 1957, passed away February 4, 2022.

A brother, Robert Skebo, two sisters, Mary Gondor, and Suzanne Hatala also preceded Bill in death.

Family and friends may gather to pay respects from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Holy Apostles Parish, St. Stephen of Hungary Church 854 Wilson Ave., Youngstown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown where Bill will be laid to rest next to his wife, Dorothy.

Bill's family wishes to thank the staff of St. Mary's Alzheimer Center for their excellent care given to Bill throughout his time there.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
