Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN - William Osco Hirby, 73, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, Dec. 1, 2017.

William, who was known to all as Bill or Billy, was born March 4, 1944, in Jacksonville, Ohio, a son of the late Elmer Franklin and Myrtle Marie Abney Hirby, and came to this area in 1996 from Girard, Pa.

Mr. Hirby was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Albion, Pa., and was trained in the Job Corps service in 1965. He then proudly served in the U.S. Navy for nearly four years, from 1967 until 1971 during the Vietnam War.

Billy worked for Hopkins in Lake City, and for The Tannery in Girard, Pa.

He was an enthusiastic fisherman, and he enjoyed drinking.

Billy leaves his sister, Zelma M. Forro, with whom he shared his home, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Betty Ann Borland, who passed away May 25, 2017, and by two brothers, Harvey and Franklin Hirby.

Family and friends may gather from 6 to 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 8, at  Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.
