BOARDMAN – William G. "Clutch" Karelin Jr., 80, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Feb. 20, 2019, at Continuing Healthcare of Boardman after battling complications from a stroke he suffered a year ago.

William was born Jan. 28, 1939, in Youngstown, a son of the late William G. Sr. and Helen Shunschuvez Karelin, was a graduate of South High School and lived his life in this area.

"Clutch" retired from the Lafarge Company (Standard Lafarge), where he worked for 38 years.

Mr. Karelin enjoyed bowling and golfing. He also enjoyed doing electrical work for himself and others, and most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.

Bill leaves a daughter, Rhonda Wood of Niles; two sons, Mark (Julie) Karelin of Virginia and Keith (Jennie) Karelin of South Carolina; six grandchildren, Mark Wood Jr., Justin Wood, Jeremy Wood, Keyona Wood, Brianna Karelin, and Nadia Karelin; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandra (Ron) Lipkovich of Las Vegas; and two brothers, Gregory (Martha) Karelin of North Lima and Thomas Karelin of Poland.

A sister-in-law, Sue Karelin, is deceased.

Family and friends may gather from 5 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 24, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a Memorial Service will take place at 6 p.m.

Bill's family thanks Dr. Richard Wise; Dr. Santuccio Ricciardi; Dr. Joseph Barak; Elena and all the nurses, aides, and staff with Continuing Healthcare; Terri and Brenda with Buckeye Hospice; and Pastor Joe Congemi, for the kindness shown and care given to Bill and his family during the past year.
