Obituary

GIRARD - Theodore "Ted" Pruneski, 63, passed away early Thursday morning, March 20, 2025, at hospice house surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Ted was born September 7, 1961, in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph and Michaelena "Mickey" Pruneski and was a lifelong area resident.

A 1979 graduate of Girard High School, Ted went on to attend the New Castle School of Trades, where he earned his certification as a welder. He spent his career working in various steel mills throughout the valley, dedicating himself to his craft with pride and commitment.

In his younger years, Ted's love for music was evident as he played the drums in the 1980s with the band Zen Archer. He also shared cherished memories with his close-knit group of friends, affectionately known as the "Band of Gypsys," with whom he went camping every year — creating bonds and memories that lasted a lifetime.

A passionate sports fan, Ted was loyal to his Cleveland teams, finding joy and camaraderie in every game. Above all, Ted's greatest happiness came from the time spent with his family.

Ted leaves to forever cherish his memory his sons, Jerome Pruneski of Girard and Justin (Rochelle) Pruneski of Tiffin, OH; three grandchildren, Jaxon, Noah and Nora; his siblings, Stephen (Nancy) Pruneski of Green, Helen Hancock (fiancé Kevin Winebold) of Girard, Mary (Terry) Barnes of Girard and Patricia (Anthony) Zoccali of Cortland. Ted also leaves, Adam Jones of Leavittsburg, whom he helped raise, along with several nieces and nephews and extended family members who will remember him fondly.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025, at St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m.
