GIRARD - Terry R. Johnson Sr., 78, passed away Friday evening, April 13, 2018, at his home after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness.

Terry was born June 20, 1939, in Youngstown, a son of the late Roland and Betty Kuntz Johnson, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Johnson worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube for 30 years, retiring in 1985.

He greatly enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing all sports with his kids and the kids in his neighborhood. Terry also enjoyed working on cars, and spending time with his beloved dog, Sadie.

Terry leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Carol Bennett Johnson; three sons, Rex Johnson of Girard, Russ Johnson (fiancee Wanda Reese) of Girard, and Jeff Johnson of Akron; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister Barb Kessler of Girard; and many great-great grandchildren and extended family members.

Terry was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Two sons, Terry Johnson Jr. and Mark Johnson, and a sister, Debbie Johnson, preceded Terry in death.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 21, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard, where funeral services will follow at 5 p.m.
