Susan Kopachy

YOUNGSTOWN — Susan Kopachy, 69, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Sept. 1, 2026, at her home.

Susan was born May 10, 1957, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Elaine Luckhart and remained a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley.

A devoted wife and mother, Susan always put her family first. She also worked at Cornersburg Italian Specialties for 10 years.

Susan enjoyed watching movies, especially when surrounded by family and friends. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and loved spoiling them every chance she got, just as a grandma should.

Susan leaves to forever cherish her memory her husband of 51 years, Louis M. Kopachy, whom she married July 25, 1975; her three sons, Michael J. (Christi) Kopachy of Newark, Ohio, Bryan D. Kopachy (Genny) of Pittsburgh and Louis J. (Maegan) Kopachy of Youngstown; five grandchildren, Jack, Michael, Gia, Atlas and Milo; her sister, Patty Scarsella of Youngstown; and many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her mother, Susan was preceded in death by her sister, Merni Medley.

A celebration of life for Susan will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
