YOUNGSTOWN - Shirley A. Stauffer, formerly of Youngstown’s north side, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, Feb. 7, 2026, at Humility House in Austintown.
Shirley was born July 19, 1937, in Rossiter, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Bishop Rainey.
She was a 1955 graduate of Rossiter High School, graduating first in her class, and devoted her adult life to raising and caring for her family.
Shirley married the love of her life, Ralph Stauffer, on Feb. 6, 1961. As a proud Navy wife, she faithfully supported her husband throughout his 20-year career in the United States Navy, traveling and making homes together in New Jersey, Rhode Island, Virginia and South Carolina. Following Ralph’s retirement, the couple returned to Ohio to be closer to family.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose kindness, strength and deep love for her family will always be remembered. She enjoyed crocheting, listening to family radio, attending church services and playing bingo. In her younger years, she especially cherished family gatherings, vacations and fishing trips, which brought her great joy.
Mrs. Stauffer was a faithful member of Mill Creek Community Church, where her quiet faith and love for the Lord were an important part of her life.
Shirley leaves to forever cherish her memory her three daughters, Kathleen (Alfred) Miller of Youngstown, Patricia (Eric) Hellam of Newnan, Georgia, and Lucinda (Harry III) Pasku of Hubbard; nine grandchildren, Kristen, Jennifer, Sarah, R.J., Kaitlyn, McKenna, Nicole, Harry IV and Benton; six great-grandchildren, Sophia, Mason, Colton, Carter, Eleanor, and Asa; one great-grandchild on the way; and many extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph, who died Oct. 2, 2008; her two sons, Ronald and Brian Stauffer; and her brother, Robert Rainey.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd. Youngstown, where a funeral service will be held at 6 p.m.
Private interment will take place Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at Hubbard Union Cemetery, where Shirley will be laid to rest beside her beloved Ralph.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
