YOUNGSTOWN – Shirley A. Kendall, 72, of the city's west side, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Monday morning, October 28, 2024, at her home.

Shirley was born January 18, 1952, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, a daughter of George and Beverly Lancaster Rockwell and came to the Youngstown area as a child. She attended South High School and dedicated her life to her family, raising her children and caring deeply for those she loved.

Mrs. Kendall was a member of the former Lanterman Road Church of God. She had a strong faith and community spirit. She found joy in attending outdoor concerts, but her greatest happiness came from time spent with her family, sharing laughter and creating cherished memories.

Shirley leaves to forever cherish her memory her two sons, Robert (Amy) Kendall Jr. of Youngstown, and George Kendall of Youngstown; three grandchildren, Amber (Louis) Leon, Robert (Kristin) Kendall III and Gabby Kendall; three great-grandchildren, Lillian, Brycen and Sebastian; her mother, Beverly Rockwell of Youngstown; five siblings, Rose (Dale) Kerr of Warren, Bruce (Carole) Rockwell of Youngstown, James (Donna Lou) Rockwell of Youngstown, Debbie Hagerty (Lee Myers) of Youngstown and Donna Jean Rockwell (Curtis Hayes) of Youngstown and many extended family members.

Her husband, Robert Kendall Sr., whom she married September 22, 1968, died October 27, 1996. A granddaughter, Brittany and a brother, George Rockwell also preceded Shirley in death.

Shirley's kindness, devotion, and love for her family will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who knew and loved her.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a funeral service will take place at 6 p.m. with Pastor Dan Rockwell officiating.
