GIRARD - Sharon R. Platt Varkonyi, 62, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Tuesday evening, Oct. 26, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Sharon was born July 14, 1959, in Warren, a daughter of the late Robert and Emma Weakley Platt, and was a lifelong area resident.

Sharon was a 1977 graduate of McDonald High School.

She worked many different jobs throughout her lifetime, and was most recently employed with McDonald's with franchisee John Perdue, where she worked in human resources for over 20 years.

Sharon greatly enjoyed doing crafts, particularly making scrapbooks and stamping. She was also a fan of animals and zoos, and visited when she could. Most of all, Sharon enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 23 years, Richard Varkonyi, whom she married March 27, 1998; three children, Beki Badila of Niles, Jeni (Rusty) Joseph of Liberty Township, and Stephen Varkonyi (Mikealina) of Girard; three stepchildren, Bill Varkonyi of Cleveland, Christina (Bob) Jackson of Youngstown, and Ricky (Kimmy) Varkonyi of Youngstown; seven grandchildren, Christopher Lee, Joey, Allison, Kaitlin, Dylan, Matthew, and Aiden; a brother, Robert "Butch" Platt Jr. of Cincinnati; a sister, Linda Walker of Arnold, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Family and friends may gather to pay respects from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday Nov. 1, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where funeral services will take place at 6:30 p.m.
