Obituary

HUBBARD - Sandra S. Stun, 63, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, early Saturday afternoon, Oct. 17, 2015, at her home, from complications of diabetes.

Sandy was born Dec. 2, 1951, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Dominic and Irene LaGuardia Fadell, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1969 graduate of Chaney High School, a homemaker, and a member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard.

Sandy's greatest joy was spending time with her family and traveling with her husband, John, in their motor home for vacations and to visit her grandchildren.

Sandy had a flair for decorating, and each holiday her home was overflowing with an abundance of decorated trees, animated characters, and many hand-crafted items. She sewed all of her daughters' Halloween costumes when they were children, and she loved shopping at WalMart and flea markets. She loved music, especially concerts at Packard Music Hall, and she loved singing opera and tap-dancing at the Shenango Valley Senior Center. She also enjoyed cooking and cake decorating, arts & crafts, painting ceramics, and anything "glitter."

She will always be remembered as a strong, independent, loyal, caring, maternal, fun-loving and playful woman whose greatest attributes were her unconditional love for her family, and the traditions and values she instilled in her daughters.

Sandy leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, John; their two daughters, Elizabeth (First Sergeant Rusty, USMC) Stowers of Twentynine Palms, Calif. and Valerie (Sam) Toke of Rocky Mount, N.C.; six beautiful grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Austun, Ryan, Nicholas, and Taylor Stowers, and Sammy and Johnathan Toke; and her dear aunt Toni Ricciardulli, whom she loved dearly and by whom she was loved in return. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her cousins and friends, especially her cousin, Doris Layfield, who was always there for her with love, compassion, prayer, and support.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

In celebration of Sandy's life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, at St. Patrick Church in Hubbard, where family and friends may also call from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service.

Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers, Sandy's family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to, Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, 962 Martin Luther King Blvd, Youngstown, OH 44510; or to, Prisms, Inc., 21800 Town Centre Plaza, Suite 266A - 633, Sterling, VA. 20164, which is a foundation for children with Smith-Magenis Syndrome, a rare genetic condition which affects Sandy's grandson, Johnathan.
