Russell L. Putt

AUSTINTOWN - Russell L. Putt, 73, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, at Hospice House, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Russell was born June 2, 1953, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Russell and Nina Kinter Putt, and came to the Mahoning Valley as a child.

He was a graduate of The Rayen School and later earned his nursing degree, becoming a registered nurse.

Russell dedicated more than 25 years of service as a registered nurse, caring for residents in assisted living and long-term care facilities throughout the Mahoning Valley.

He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed listening to music, playing the guitar, riding his motorcycle and, most of all, spending time with his family. Russell was a kind and generous man who will be remembered for his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Russell leaves to forever cherish his memory his companion, Gayle Cassidy, with whom he made his home; his two daughters, Heather (Jim) Bielik of Youngstown and Kimberly (Ed) Smotrilla of Youngstown; two grandchildren, "Rory" and "EJ"; two nephews, Tom (Becky) Leasure and Rusty Leasure; a niece, Dianne Leasure; his stepson, Mike (Jen) Mehley; his grandson, Sebastian Mehley; and many extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his former wife, Bonnie Berry Putt; his sister, Lana Leasure; and his nephew, Chip Leasure.

A celebration of Russell's life will be held at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the donor's favorite charity and asks that Russell be remembered in your own special way.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
