AUSTINTOWN - Russell C. "Rusty" Hixson, 77, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 6, 2025, at Hospice House following a brief illness.

Russell was born February 4, 1948, in Middletown, Ohio, a son of the late James Hixson and Bessie Woods Hixson, and moved to the Youngstown area as a child. He was a graduate of The Rayen School and held a chauffeur's license. Rusty worked various jobs throughout the area before retiring.

Rusty enjoyed playing solitaire, doing yard work, having a cold beer, and cheering on his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Most of all, he treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his four children, Michael (Terri) Hixson of Salem, Patricia Davison, Donald Hixson, and Adam Hixson all of Youngstown; five grandchildren, Brittany, Raymond, Robert, Michael Jr., and Amber; his siblings, Linda Lejune of Corpus Christie, TX, Lois Musgrave of Youngstown; his former wives, Kathleen Alexander of Youngstown and Charlotte Lee Scali of Columbiana and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Rusty was preceded in death by his son, Russell Hixson Jr.; two brothers, Larry and Jimmy Hixson; and a sister, Shirley Bosak.

A celebration of Rusty's life will be held at a later date.
