YOUNGSTOWN - Ronald E. Wire Sr., 82, passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 24, 2016, at Valley Care Northside Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Ronald was born June 13, 1933, in Little Beaver Township, Lawrence County, Pa., a son of the late Oscar and Lyda Gordon Wire, and lived most of his life in Youngstown.
Mr. Wire proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, where he earned his GED, and he worked for General Motors at the Lordstown Plant for 25 years, retiring in 1995.
Ron was a member of the former John Knox United Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed target shooting, coin collecting, and boating.
Ron's wife of nearly 61 years, Mary Louise Wilson Wire, whom he married Dec. 27, 1954, passed away Oct. 18, 2015.
Mr. Wire leaves five children, Lora Irvine of Niles, Ronald E. Jr. (Kathy) Wire of McDonald, Robert (Lisa) Wire of Austintown, James Wire of Struthers, and Lisa (Joseph) Armes of Youngstown; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, a son, David W. Wire, and a sister, Dorothy Carissimi are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 28, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 29, at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Petersburg Cemetery, where Mr. Wire will be laid to rest next to his wife.
