NEW MIDDLETOWN- Ronald C. Latessa, Sr.,82, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Saturday morning, February 12, 2022. Ronald was born February 24, 1939, in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph and Julia Petrarca Latessa.  He was a 1956 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and majored in music at both Ohio University and Adrian College, subsequently returning to Youngstown. A talented craftsman, Ron was the owner and operator of Latessa Furniture Refinishing and Repair in Youngstown and after his retirement continued sharing his talents with National Fire Repair.  Ron was also an accomplished musician who played saxophone and clarinet for "The Varatones", a locally based band,  for many years. A devout Catholic, Ron was a member of several local Catholic churches throughout his lifetime, including Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica for which he had a special place in his heart. Ron enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, enjoyed bowling, and will always be remembered as a very sociable and fun loving guy.  He will be dearly missed. He leaves his wife, Cynthia A. Evans Latessa, whom he married November 5, 1960; two sons, Ronald C. Jr. (Patti) Latessa of New Middletown, and Phillip (Gwen) Latessa of Poland; one brother, Joseph A. (Joyce) Latessa of Youngstown; three grandchildren, Dominic, Anthony and Valerie; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Family and friends may pay respects on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the funeral home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel Avenue, Youngstown. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
