IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert J.
Kurty
May 21, 1958 – March 23, 2025
BOARDMAN - Robert J. "Bob" Kurty, 66, passed away Sunday morning, March 23, 2025, in the comfort of his home surrounded by the love of his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Robert was born May 21, 1958, in Akron and was raised in Youngstown by his adoptive parents, Joseph and Mary Olejar Kurty. Seven years ago he was reunited with his biological mother, Rose Anne Millich.
Bob was a graduate of Boardman High School, Class of 1976, and subsequently attended Youngstown State University earning a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Professionally, Bob built a successful 31-year career at Valvoline, where he served as both a manager and regional account manager. He retired in 2022, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and leadership. Retirement didn't slow him down, though—he went on to work as a starter at The Lake Club for a year, a role he truly enjoyed and where he made many new friends.
A man of many passions, Bob had a deep love for photography and music, often serving as the heart and soul of any gathering. He was always known as the "life of the party", someone who brought people together with laughter, warmth, and generosity. Whether he was hosting a get-together, meticulously landscaping his yard, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, Bob lived with intention and heart.
Bob leaves to forever cherish his memory his wife of 36 years, Cynthia Leedy Kurty, whom he married May 27, 1988; his three children, Christina Bell (Brian Revak) of North Jackson, Brock Kurty of Boardman and Brianna (Jarrod) Shook of North Jackson; four grandchildren, Attila, Julianna, Madelyn and Greyson; his sister, Jennifer (Jim) Niemi of Boardman; his biological mother, Rose Anne Millich of Youngstown and many extended family members and countless friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Kurty.
Family and friends may call from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m.
Bob will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, unwavering love for his family, and the joy he brought into every room. His presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, Bob's family suggests memorial contributions be made to Open Arms Adoption Agency 11 River St. Suite B Kent, Ohio 44240.
