AUSTINTOWN - Robert M. Knight, Sr., 76, passed away early Monday morning, Sept. 28, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown following a lengthy illness.

Robert was born June 19, 1939, in Youngstown, a son of the late Fred and Mary Torek Knight. He was a 1957 graduate of The Rayen School and a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Knight worked for Republic Rubber Works / Aeroquip for over 20 years, retiring on disabilty after an accident at home left him wheelchair-bound for the past 25 years.

Bob always had a positive attitude and a smile on his face, and he occasionally was a motivational speaker for several local groups.

He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown and the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Mears Council. Bob was passionate about classic cars and hotrods, and loved telling jokes to anyone who would listen.

Bob's wife of nearly 50 years, Donna L. McCabe Knight, whom he married Jan. 27, 1962, passed away Jan. 6, 2012.

Mr. Knight leaves his daughter, Debra (Albert) Rozzi of Austintown; his son, Robert M. Jr. (Nancy) Knight of Austintown; two grandchildren, Jarett and Abigail; and two brothers, Thomas (Rosalie) Knight of Temecula, Calif. and Fred Jr. (Marilyn) Knight of Cortland. Bob also leaves many cousins and extended family members who always enjoyed the time they spent together.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., WEDNESDAY, Sept. 30, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 North Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m., THURSDAY, Oct. 1, at the funeral home, and will continue at 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Rd., Austintown.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown, where Robert will be laid to rest next to his wife.
