Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN - Robert James "Bob" Cappitte, 68, passed away Wednesday evening, April 2, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital following a brief illness.

Robert was born May 21, 1956, in Youngstown, a son of the late James T. Cappitte and Joyce M. Thorensen Cappitte and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1975 graduate of Chaney High School, and dedicated much of his life to working alongside his family as a painter for Cappitte Painters. He later managed the former Internet Café on South Raccoon Road, where he was known for his warm personality and easygoing nature.

Bob found joy in life's simple pleasures—listening to the soulful voices of Elvis and Sam Cooke, casting a fishing line into still waters, and trying his luck at casinos and Mountaineer Park. He was a devoted Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and Ohio State Buckeyes fan, seldom missing a game and always cheering loud and proud.

In his younger years, Bob cherished time spent with loved ones at picnics at Waterford Park. He had a fondness for spooky movies and a deep love for family time—especially with his grandchildren, who brought light and laughter into his life.

Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Terri Wallace Cappitte, whom he married August 9, 1975; his three children, Sherri Lynn (Ralph) Santiago, Robert M. Cappitte and Christie M. Butler, all of Youngstown; his eight grandchildren, Jaden and Justice Santiago, Leia and Jada West, and DeMarco, Kailani, Naomi and Hakeem Butler; a great-grandson, Ra'Mello; his sister, Beatrice Arnold of Youngstown and several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members and many friends.

In addition to his parents, a granddaughter, Serenity Butler preceded Bob in death.

Per Bob's request there are no services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
