Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN - Richard E. Coberly Jr., 73, passed away peacefully early Wednesday evening, Oct. 21, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman with his loved ones by his side.

Richard was born Oct. 13, 1942, in Youngstown, a son of the late Richard E. Sr. and Katherine Sarisky Coberly, and lived most of his life in this area.

He was a 1960 graduate of Boardman High School, where he played trumpet in the marching band, and he attended The Ohio State University and Youngstown State University.

Dick worked from 1996 until his retirement in 2008 as a human resource manager at Lear Corporation in Lordstown. Prior to his employment with Lear, he worked for over 20 years as a human resource manager at Alcan Aluminum in Warren and for Automatic Sprinkler in Cleveland.

Mr. Coberly was a member of St. Charles Church in Boardman, where he served as an usher. He was a member of the Beaver Creek Horseman's Association, and he served as president of Forest Lawn Memorial Park Improvement Committee for several years.

A cancer survivor, Dick lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed  family and friends, fishing and camping, and a "good" cocktail now and then.

Dick leaves his son, Richard E. III (Bernadette) Coberly of North Royalton; his daughter, Colleen E. (Rod) Bennett of Canton, Ga.; six grandchildren, Collin, Nicholas, Ryan, Seamus, Daniel, and Brianna; his brother, Ronald (Carol) Coberly of Coos Bay, Ore.; and his significant other, Pamela M. Desport, with whom he shared his life.

His wife, Sara A. Maughan Coberly, whom he married June 5, 1964, passed away Jan. 1, 2003.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 25, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 North Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Family and friends may also call from 9 to 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 26, at the funeral home, where services will begin at 10:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church, 7345 Westview Dr., Boardman.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dick's name to the Animal Charity Humane Society, through animalcharityofohio.org; or to St. Charles Church; or to the American Cancer Society, through cancer.org.
