YOUNGSTOWN - Rexford E. Worley, 70, of Brownlee Woods, passed away peacefully late Sunday evening, Oct. 11, 2015, at Hospice House following a lengthy illness.
Rexford was born Feb. 18, 1945, in Washington, D.C., a son of the late Robert Eugene and Leah Elizabeth Hardy Worley. He was raised in Mount Rainier, Md., and came to Youngstown with his family in 1975.
A 1965 graduate of Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Md., Rex also graduated from the Hal Hamsley Floral Design School in Washington, D.C. He later earned his Master Florist Manager's degree, and he taught floral design classes in Maryland and Ohio.
Mr. Worley and his wife owned and operated several floral shops in Maryland and Ohio, including The Flower Gallery in Lisbon and The Main Event Flower Shop in Boardman. He retired in 2009 from Weingartner's Floral & Gift Shop in New Castle, Pa.
Rex was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a member of Neighborhood Ministries, and served on the board of American Baptist Association of Churches. He was also a member of the Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society.
Rex leaves his beloved wife of 46 years, Audra E. Palmer Worley, whom he married May 17, 1969; his son, Philip E. Worley of Youngstown; his daughter, Melanie Y. (Christopher) Clark of Columbiana; three grandchildren, Rebecca, Philip II, and Noah; and a sister, Elizabeth Worley-Wilson of Leetonia.
Besides his parents, a brother, Roger Worley, and Roger's wife, Jeanette, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. WEDNESDAY (10/14), at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 North Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Family and friends may also call from 10 to 11 a.m., THURSDAY (10/15), at Calvary Baptist Church, 1463 Shields Road, Boardman, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.
Interment will take place at Oakdale Cemetery in Leetonia.
