Obituary

CANFIELD - Raymond M. Jursa, 87, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 11, 2025, at Windsor House at Parkside in Columbiana.

Raymond was born April 2, 1937, in Warren, the beloved son of the late Mike and Evelyn Mondiak Jursa. and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1954 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and furthered his education at The Ohio State University.

He honorably served in the United States Army before building a successful career working with Wean Engineering Co., Roth Brothers, and Poling and Bacon. He was also a co-owner of DeKay Fabricators before retiring in 2002.

A man of faith, Raymond was a longtime member of the former Holy Name Church and later became part of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. His interests reflected his deep passion for life. He had a love for cars and racing, particularly the thrill of attending the Indy 500. Raymond was also a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan and took great joy in watching football and baseball, always cheering on his Cincinnati Reds.

Despite his many passions, family was the cornerstone of Raymond's life. He treasured every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. His warmth, wisdom, and humor left an indelible mark on all who knew and loved him.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 61 years, Estella Seruga Jursa, whom he married September 21, 1963, in Holy Name Church; his son, Jeff (Shannan) Jursa; his daughter, Karen (Spencer) Twyford; five grandchildren, Evan Shobel, Noah Jursa, Drew Jursa, Morgan Twyford and Madison Twyford; many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
