Throughout his working life, Pete devoted himself to both education and hard work. He taught science at Garfield Heights Schools and health and physical education at Chalker High School in Southington. He also served as a substitute teacher with Youngstown City Schools. During the summer months, Pete worked at U.S. Steel and Republic Steel, and later completed his career with Conrail as a locomotive engineer, retiring in 2006.
Mr. Ostapiak was a faithful member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church where he enjoyed singing in the church choir and volunteering for the parish pyrohy project.
Pete will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a man who valued education, service and family above all else.
Pete leaves to forever cherish his memory his daughter, Christina (Robert) Rompf of Cuyahoga Falls; his two sons, Peter (Jennifer) Ostapiak of North Jackson and Mark Ostapiak of Oakland, California; six grandchildren, Anna Ostapiak, Emily Rompf, Robert Rompf, Eric Deal, Chelsea Sedmak and Lauren (Michael) Francisco; his great-granddaughter, Niomi Phillips; and his brother in law, John Feduneczko of Austintown.
