Obituary

CANFIELD - Paul R. Robinson, 87, passed away peacefully, Thursday afternoon, August 29, 2024, at Windsor House Canfield.

Paul was born December 26, 1936, in Youngstown, a son of the late James T. Robinson and Veta Bush Robinson, and was a lifelong area resident.

Paul was a proud graduate of Canfield High School, Class of 1954. His early career included work at McKenzie Muffler on Meridian Road before he dedicated himself to serving his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, Paul embarked on a long and fulfilling career with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), where he worked for 31 years, eventually retiring in 1988 as a construction supervisor.

Paul was an active member of St. Brendan Church, where he served as an usher and also as a former chairman of the Parish Council. His commitment to service extended beyond his church; Paul was a dedicated member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 216 in Youngstown, where he served as president for two years in his district. He was also a past commander of the American Legion Post 301 in Austintown, as well as the commander of the Mahoning County Council for several years and vice commander of District 9.

Paul's leadership was further exemplified during his 10 years as the chief of police at the Canfield Fairgrounds, where he played a key role in organizing the department into what it is today. His passion for serving veterans led him to volunteer his time at the Mahoning County Veterans Clinic for many years. Paul was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans John J. Buckley Post and the Argus Masonic Lodge in Canfield.

He enjoyed boating, being a member of the Lake Milton Boat Club and golf.

Paul is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marsha Angle Robinson; his two stepsons, Richard (Jennifer) Bodo of Denton, TX, and Mark (Josanne) Bodo of Mineral Ridge; his step-daughter, Joy Lynn Wilson of Austintown; six grandchildren, Atty. Monica Barone, Maj. Joseph (Hannah) Barone, Derek (Sara) Bodo, Anna Jade Bodo, Ethan Bodo and Lara Bodo; five great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Donchess of Arlington, TX; and many extended family members.
